When looking at the normalization of genital cutting a perfect story to read (or watch) is The Fox Without a Tail. In short, the fox who lost their tail tries to convince others that not having a tail has benefits. Human society is a bit more complex considering that much more than just one individual is missing their tail. Thus, those who still have their tail are fearful of denouncing the claimed benefits and telling about the benefits of keeping one’s tail.

For those who express any kind of unhappiness about the fact that their tail was removed without their express consent, they may be gaslit by those complicit in the act, are missing their own tail, or defend the act because of their own beliefs from conditioning or indoctrination (similar to other sexual abuses). This can lead to mental health issues for the unhappy individual (like any sexual abuse that is denied).

Women Complain About Female Genital Cutting (FGC/M)

It is rare to see a woman complain about what was done to her while still living in the culture where the cutting ritual is considered normal. People like Hibo Wardere and Soraya Miré, for example, spoke out most when they left those cultures. Books have been written and many documentaries have been created. A playlist on YouTube. In some cultures, the ritual is performed so early in their lives and the harm is not noticeable that the woman is unlikely to complain.

Men Complain About Circumcision (#mendocomplain)

It is rare to see men complain about having less of their penis for multiple reasons:

  • Majority are cut during infancy, thus, they don’t understand the impact.
  • Men are often raised to bury their emotions and that having emotions is a sign of weakness. Thus, complaining would be seen as weak (even though an individual has to be very strong to stand up to such gaslighting).

There are some books that share stories of men complaining:

There are many organizations with stories from men: (WARNING: Some of these sites do not warn about explicit images!)

Sexual Partners Complain About Genital Cutting

Keep checking back for stories of men complaining about their female partners being victims of genital cutting. We do not have anything at the moment.

On the same sites listed for men complaining, you can find stories from women that believe that they would enjoy better intimate relations with their partner if their partner still had their whole penis. Reports are made of discomfort from chafing and sometimes tearing due to the lack of skin mobility and lubrication that the intact penis provides.

Medical Professionals Complain About Genital Cutting

For all forms of non-therapeutic genital cutting practices, medical professionals do NOT agree on the benefits-risk-harms discussions and do NOT agree on the ethics.
